The De-Pil-It is a wholly Australian made product to remove pilling, (also called fuzz), from most fabrics. It is not a clothes brush. Developed in Melbourne in 1993, the De-Pil-lt is now completely established throughout Australia and overseas as the only effective pilling remover on the market. It doesn't use batteries, have angry, sharp blades or use electricity. The product is simple to use; if you can use an electric iron, you can use De-Pil-It.

So, you wanted to know a little bit about pilling? Well, there are as many theories about how it occurs as there are housewives asked. Pilling is the little knots which form on most modern fabrics, particularly woollen jumpers (sweaters), tracksuits, polar fleecies. Pilling is caused by minute threads working through to the surface of the garment and clotting into little knots, particularly where the most rubbing of the garment occurs: inside the arms, thighs, on the stomach and chest area. Some fabrics are worse than others. The De-Pil-It will remove pilling from most fabrics, but not all; pilling, unfortunately, will almost always return although many garments eventually stabilise with age.

Some fallacies about pilling: pilling is not prevented by washing clothes inside out. Although it is sensible to wash and line dry clothing turned inside out, it won't prevent pilling.

A certain brand of universally known washing powder prevents pilling. We've never actually heard consumers say this, only clever marketing people!

Front loading washing machines don't cause pilling, only top loading machines do. Yup, and Elvis does the ironing.

European or New Zealand made washing machines prevent pilling, unlike washing machines made anywhere else in the world. Some people actually believe this nonsense.

Only washing machines cause pilling - handwashing avoids the problem. Get real!! Fancy doing the family's wash by hand? This theory is a firm favourite of people who don't do the family's laundering!

Okay, here's how you use De-Pil-lt. Lay the affected garment flat on a damp towel on a table or ironing board. Have the garment's seams on the outside. First, always test the De-Pil-It on an inconspicuous spot on the garment before use. Do not go over seams, buttons, pockets, zips or any other raised areas. Gently wipe, don't scrub the area, going with the grain of the fabric.
